The Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) on September 05, 2026, notified that the Drug Regulatory and Law Enforcement Agencies are intensifying coordinated action against Illegal Manufacture and Distribution of Misbranded Drugs.
It states that coordinated surveillance and enforcement action is being undertaken against the illegal manufacture and distribution of misbranded and spurious drugs. During a search conducted by the Delhi Police Crime Branch and Delhi Drugs Control officials on April 22, 2026, Rabies Vaccine (Abhayrab), Batch No. KE25012, was seized from an unlicensed premises in Delhi. The sample was tested by the Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL), Kasauli and was found to be misbranded and not of Standard Quality, including that it was not manufactured by Indian Immunologicals Ltd. CDSCO subsequently alerted State/UT Drugs Controllers to maintain vigilance and take regulatory action under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and Rules. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the case, with further investigation and legal action ongoing.
